Learning in Retirement of Waukesha Co., hosted by WCTC, to offer new classes and workshops
Fall kickoff event slated for August 6
PEWAUKEE, Wis. (Monday, July 26, 2021) – Learning in Retirement of Waukesha County Inc. (LIRWC) -- hosted by Waukesha County Technical College (WCTC) -- provides intellectual, cultural, educational and social opportunities to foster lifelong learning for adults of all ages. LIRWC activities are held during weekday/daytime hours. LIRWC is an affiliate of the Road Scholar Lifelong Learning Institute, which promotes campus-based programs for ongoing learning.
The LIRWC 2021 Fall Course Catalog, which will be available in late July, features numerous events, special interest groups and courses on a variety of topics including art, finance, history, health and wellness, travel, personal development, computers and much more.
The cost of membership is $65 (non-refundable) for one year -- Sept. 1, 2021, through Aug. 31, 2022 – and course fees will be $20 and $10. Registration for courses, special interest groups and trips is by mail or in-person only at the LIRWC office, located at the WCTC Waukesha campus. Early registration is encouraged as classes fill quickly!
A free, fall LIRWC Kickoff Event is planned for Friday, Aug. 6, from 10 a.m. to noon at the new Anthony J. Natalizio Education Center at WCTC’s Pewaukee campus. (Doors open at 9:30 a.m.) The event is open to the public and designed to familiarize members and non-members with the LIRWC organization, meet board and committee members, learn about new programs and events, and enjoy refreshments and a performance by the “Two Old Men” musical group. Raffle tickets will be available for purchase for a chance to win one of two LIWRC memberships; the drawing will be held at 11:30 a.m. In addition, opportunities to register for fall classes will be available.
LIRWC courses are held at the WCTC Waukesha campus, WCTC Pewaukee campus or other nearby facilities, all of which provide a relaxed, yet professional, learning atmosphere.
- Short-term, non-credit courses from one to six weeks in length. Most courses are
$10-20, unless otherwise noted.
- Daylong and overnight chartered trips to museums, art exhibits, theater performances and other special events throughout the year. Virtual tours are also offered.
- Specialty speaker presentations.
- Participation in special interest groups.
- Opportunities to make new friends and explore new interests.
- Access to WCTC facilities including the College’s library, computer labs, Style & Class Salon and dental hygiene clinic.
