PEWAUKEE, Wis. (Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020)  Waukesha County Technical College was chosen as one of 25 public community/technical colleges from more than 160 applicants nationwide to receive a 2020 PATH Scholarship from Ellucian, a leading provider of software and services built to power higher education.

The PATH (Progress, Accomplishment, Thriving and Hope) Scholarship provides funds to institutions that will then deliver the financial support to students experiencing economic hardships resulting from the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. WCTC received $20,000 and will then award financial gifts of $500 to $2,000 to individual students until the funds are exhausted. This money will help cover items such as housing costs, tuition expenses and food – the most pressing needs as identified by the winners.

“We are excited for this opportunity to provide our students with additional assistance during this national pandemic,” said Justin Kehring, WCTC’s manager of Financial Aid. “These scholarship funds will help our students achieve their educational dreams while decreasing the financial burden created by COVID-19.”

Ellucian is committed to helping students alleviate financial worries during the public health crisis – and beyond. In total, Ellucian awarded $500,000 to the 25 colleges in November, and Ellucian plans to continue its growth with support from like-minded partners in 2021. “We continue to see the economic pressure of COVID-19 and the devastating effects this can have on our most vulnerable students,” said Laura Ipsen, president and CEO of Ellucian. “As a partner to higher education institutions around the world, we have been humbled to see how the community responded in the wake of COVID and are committed to do our part to help students succeed.”
