Dozens of area high school students, along with their families and friends, participated in Waukesha County Technical College’s inaugural Signing Day event Feb. 15, to confirm their commitment to attend WCTC. Two other colleges in the Wisconsin Technical College System – Gateway Technical College and Blackhawk Technical College – also held Signing Day events this year.

WCTC’s event is designed to recognize students and officially welcome them to the College, where they will develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to prepare for a career in their chosen field. The event celebrates their commitment to their education through the signing of letters of intent with their future classmates.

Deans from the four schools coordinated the signing: Mike Shiels, School of Applied Technologies; Kim Ehlert, School of Business; Sandra Stearns, School of Health; and Greg West, School of Protective & Human Services. Ann Krause-Hanson, vice president of Strategic Marketing, Planning, College Innovation and Effectiveness, shared with students the benefits of attending WCTC and the opportunities available at the College.

Students hailed from high schools throughout Waukesha County (as well as some outside the county) including the school districts of Waukesha, New Berlin, Menomonee Falls, Elmbrook, Muskego, Mukwonago, Kettle Moraine, Sussex Hamilton and more.

In addition, participants enjoyed refreshments and received a commemorative baseball cap.
