CANCELED: Welding career information sessions designed for the Spanish-speaking

PEWAUKEE, Wis. (Thursday, March 12, 2020) –  Waukesha County Technical College is offering four welding career exploration events in March and April designed for Spanish-speaking prospective students.

In these information sessions, participants will discover the vast career opportunities in metal fabrication and welding, a key component of advanced manufacturing.

The event will be held in WCTC’s Terry Lutz Integrated Manufacturing Center, Building I, at the main Pewaukee campus on the following dates:

  • Wednesday, March 11, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Saturday, March 14, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. 
  • Wednesday, April 22, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Saturday, April 25, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

After these events, participants will have the opportunity to apply (application fee waived) for the Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW)/Fabricator courses that are designed for Spanish-speaking students. Those who are accepted into the program will take three course over two semesters: Gas Metal Arc Welding (fall and spring semesters), College Math (fall semester) and Blueprint Reading for Fabrication (spring semester).

Additionally, accepted students can also expect summer skill-building workshops, specialized academic support and an opportunity to earn $500 in scholarships.
